  1. Note: That is not normal 3/4 ply. It is 1 1/8 inch thick Sturdifloor plywood.

    2. Thank you for the information. I have been wanting to make a simple platform bed. Do you know why they added the holes to the top layer of wood?

    3. To keep the mattress ventilated. If you do not drill holes and give the mattress a chance to breath there is good chance it will become mouldy.

    4. Hi there,

Do you have plans or any further information on building this DIY bed platform. It looks wonderful

  2. I believe it is for mattress ventilation. Many memory foam mattresses designed for platform beds should not be on a solid surface

  3. I think I would have the mattress fit the platform exactly and then make matching side tables. Seems like it would be hard to get in and out of bed the way it has been made, not to mention making the bed would be harder.

  4. How much weight can this hold? Would it hold a full size bed plus 2 people about 300lbs?

  5. Took me time to read all the comments, but I really enjoyed the article. It proved to be Very helpful to me and I am sure to all the commenters here! It’s always nice when you can not only be informed, but also entertained!
    good nights sleep

  6. It would be wonderful to have the plans/project of this DIY. It's exactly what I was looking for.

  7. perfect idea. I stored this in the back of my mind a while ago, and have found it again to make something like it. The castors fit well ;)

  8. i also have the electric kool-aid acid test on my shelf :{P
